Care to add some information?
There is very little in-game about this aspect of night elf society. Most of our knowledge in this article comes from speculation and adding fractions of information. Some of it consists of Auberdine Non-canon Material and wild guesses. Take it with a pinch of salt (or at one tablespoon per 1 liter of water).
Known foods
- Darnassian Bleu - Cheese. Low level consumable.
- Bean Soup - A soup. Made of beans.
- Cabbage Kimchi and Radish Kimchi - Kimchi is a Korean food. It is essentially pickles, done in a certain way.
- Darnassus Kimchi Pie - A pie made of kimchi. This is poorly explained.
- Versicolor Treat - What this is is currently unknown to us. "Versicolor" does not refer to one concrete thing.
- Wild Ricecake - Wild rice is rice that grows in the wild. Rice cakes are part of some south-east Asian cuisines.
- Heaven Peach
- Steamed Mandu - A mandu is a Korean dish. Essentially, droplings.
- Moonberry Juice - Moonberry juice is mentioned in the RPG as well, where it is said to be an aphrodisiac.
We see strong Korean influence here. It has been stated several times that night elf culture's design was influenced by Asian culture, as can be seen in their architecture.
Many of the foods are uncooked and if they are prepared at all.
The foods here are also all prepared from found materials - peaches can grow in the wild, as does wildrice. This also supports that night elves do not grow food. They only gather or hunt it.
Other foods sold by night elves
- Melon Juice
- Ice Cold Milk
- Morning Glory Dew
- Sweet Nectar
- Snapvine Watermelon
- Tel'Abim Banana
- Goldenbark Apple
- Moon Harvest Pumpkin
- Deep Fried Plantains
Vegetarian night elves
It's speculated that some or all night elves are partly or fully vegetarian. This is refuted in a low level Teldrassil quest in which the player is given the task of finding spider legs for Kaldorei Spider Kabob.
In addition, the title "hunter" or "huntress" is not uncommon in night elf society and many NPCs have it. They hunt, at least partly, but it is possible that due to the complexity and risk involved in hunting (rather than gathering) many people simply do not get the chance to eat much meat.
Night elves are therefore likely not exclusively vegetarian.
