The Sentient Tree also sometimes known as The Twig was a strange creature/plant living behind Dennet's House.

It has since been obliterated by the second Sundering, ironically leaving only a gnarled twig.

Discovery

The being began it's story as a small twig, growing out of a soil mound in southernmost Darkshore. It was found there by Iseri, while strolling around the wilds on a routine patrol. Soon after, the druidess shared her discovery with Rohrin Duskvale. Together, they came up with the idea to plant the twig in Dennet's paddy field to save it from fel corruption.

It flourished, growing from just a single twig into a majestic tree. It was about the height of the hut. The bark was of the colour of gold, and the leaves were shining vibrantly against the moonlit night. Curiously, timid sparkles fell from them each time the wind swept. It was a mesmerizing sight to behold.

Problems

The tree, however, had an usual ability, unlike any other met before. Whoever touched upon it was immediately flushed with the most pleasant memories they cherished. This, instead of a blessing, turned out to be a curse. Resisting temptation to remain in the dream world forever was almost impossible. The tree was considered dangerous, yet since it could not be touched, it remained barred off. Decision what to do to be taken a later date.

Gnarled Overgrowth

In a cruel twist of fate, the tree started growing with tremendous speed, it's root covering the whole hut overday. As a result, the former twig became even more magnificent to behold, yet it's powers grew to attract people from close proximity. Dennet's home was almost completely lost under the roots.

As a quick fix to save the druid from death, the elves devised a way to brew a magical potion. When the liquid entered the drinker's blood system, that person would immediately phase out from our plane of existence for a brief time. This enabled Dennet to escape relatively unharmed.

As it turned out, the tree was attracted to the most fertile soil. When the Initiative began curing the surrounding area, the twig could prosper. As it grew, it needs increased too. And since the first cure was devised right in the hut, it was only logical the tree would soon absorb it. As an answer, the druids began devising a plan to lure the tree out.

It took many fertilizing potions, saber and crocodile dung enchanted with nature magic to force the tree to move. Iseri herself connected to the twig's mind, convincing it to move to a more desirable area - not only was it fresh and pure, but also more comfortable for the roots to spread. In an awesome show, the tree uprooted and slowly began crawling towards it's new home. Finally arriving, it settled down.

Aftermath

In the end, it seems that the magical abilities waned, the tree being capable of inducing deathly pleasant fantasies no longer. It is now a popular place for the townsfolk to sit back and relax, as but a fraction of it's power remained, inducing pleasant, relaxing aura to the visitors.
