The Shattering was a disaster caused by Deathwing's emergence from Deepholm and into the world. The land of the whole world shifted, and some parts were utterly ravaged.
Auberdine and the Shattering
Auberdine was destroyed in the wake of the Shattering, with the Twilight cultists settling in the ruins for a yet-unknown purpose. The town was destroyed completely. Several fast-flowing rivers now surround the town, making the only safe ways to enter the ruins by air or by sea, where the water is calmer.
Many of Auberdine's citizens have gone missing or were killed by the earthquakes. The refugees have a small camp southeast of town, where people are taken care of before being sent north to Lor'danel.
