The Winterspring Dialect, usually referred to by its speakers as just "the Dialect," is a dialect of Darnassian composed mostly of the local slang of Starfall Village, Winterspring. It was an artificially constructed language at first, but has long since become the de-facto language spoken by the vast majority of the village.
Its original purpose was to save time while coordinating hunting tactics, but it quickly became the general spoken language.
Defining Characteristics
The Winterspring dialect is defined by its quickness and the shortness of the words. Its speakers tend to elide syllables exaggeratedly, and frequently omit pronouns from their speech. Articles and plurals are discarded altogether their speech. Additionally, their sentences are occasionally put together backwards. ("Tea drinks he" rather than "he drinks tea.")
When speaking in the more "normal" Darnassian dialects, Winterspringeans tend to mix up the sentence structure completely, use impossible contractions and have trouble knowing when to use plural words. Their accents make them sound alien, and there seems to only be a handful of different sounds they can pronounce. They don't use words from before the Sundering, severely limiting their vocabulary when speaking, yet they usually understand them perfectly fine.
Some of those who travel around Kalimdor have learned to cope with the common Darnassian's "superfluous" tenses, sounds and constructs, but they still usually have an instantly-recognizable accent.
Criticism
As with all slang, the Winterpsring dialect has been met with criticism from some residents of Starfall Village. The few pedants who refused to adopt it have claimed that it "butchers the language" and "distorts the minds of the children." This has created a small part of the village that was isolated from the rest of the village due to what the locals referred to as a "political war."
